Bitget Hack Leaves Stolen XRP Sitting in Unfreezable Wallets
A massive hack on Bitget's wallet infrastructure has left $157.48 million in stolen XRP sitting in wallets that cannot be frozen, according to a report by Cryptonews.net.
The attackers broke into a critical backend system inside Bitget's wallet infrastructure and pushed over $350 million out of its hot and warm wallets, with the biggest single slice being 102.93 million XRP.
The XRP Ledger shows exactly how it happened: three transfers from Bitget Global wallets to a brand-new address in quick succession.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen said the exchange has contacted foundations on every affected chain, but because of the way the XRP Ledger works, no one can freeze the asset once it's part of the ledger.
