Bitget Hack Sends North Korea's Crypto Haul Past $1 Billion

A hack of crypto exchange Bitget has pushed North Korea's cryptocurrency heist total above $1 billion this year, according to analytics firm Elliptic Enterprises Ltd.

The September 22nd attack on Bitget resulted in a loss of $357 million, with the stolen funds showing similarities to previous attacks attributed to the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK).

Elliptic noted that some of the funds were connected to addresses tied to earlier hacks, including the record-setting $1.5 billion exploit of crypto exchange Bybit last year.
