Bitget Hack Trail Leads to Public Discord Servers and Suspected North Korean Laundering Operation
The Bitget hack has led to a trail of laundered funds, and researchers have uncovered a surprising pattern in the process. ZachXBT, a blockchain investigator, found that some individuals allegedly involved in the laundering operation are openly seeking help on public Discord servers and Telegram channels.
One alias, 'lolo' or 'Marin,' was linked to both the Bitget hack and the $292 million Kelp DAO exploit in April. The FBI has previously attributed North Korean cyber activity to TraderTraitor, which is also connected to this alias.
NEAR Intents' SHIELD system identified over $50 million in attempted transfers associated with the Bitget attackers and prevented most from passing through its infrastructure.
