Bitget Hacked: $351.6 Million Lost to EVM-Chain Hackers
Bitget has suffered a significant loss due to a hack that targeted Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible chains. The incident resulted in an estimated $351.6 million in stolen funds, with the attacker now holding roughly 68,500 Ether (ETH), worth approximately $184 million.
The EVM-linked portion of the assets lost was valued at about $192.6 million and consisted mainly of stablecoins and ETH. The attacker converted the stolen stablecoins and other assets into ETH over several hours.
Addresses linked to the attacker now hold a substantial amount of ETH, which represents a significant portion of the overall loss. This highlights the vulnerability of EVM-compatible chains and the need for enhanced security measures in the cryptocurrency space.
