Bitget Hacked by Suspected North Korean Threat Actors
Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has been hit by a suspected North Korean hack, resulting in the theft of $351.6 million from its hot and warm wallets.
The incident occurred on September 24, 2026, at 18:31 UTC when Bitget's security systems detected unauthorized transfers involving a limited number of hot wallets.
Bitget emphasized that customer account balances remain accurate, and deposits and trading continue to operate normally. However, withdrawals have been temporarily suspended due to an abundance of caution while a comprehensive security review is underway.
The company enlisted the help of Google-owned Mandiant and SlowMist for a third-party investigation into the attack. Bitget Wallet, which operates as a self-custodial wallet on separate infrastructure, was not affected by this incident.
