Bitget Hacked for $351 Million in Massive Crypto Exchange Heist
The cryptocurrency exchange Bitget was hacked on September 24, 2026, resulting in losses of nearly $351 million. The breach occurred after some unusual behavior by the platform and user reports of withdrawal issues. Preliminary data showed that approximately $176 million was transferred from wallets labeled as belonging to Bitget.
An investigation by Arkham Intelligence revealed a series of large transactions taking place within 20 minutes, with funds coming from various hot wallets and at least one cold wallet. The hackers' scheme involved sending different assets to the same address in rapid succession.
Bitget confirmed the hack, stating that it was more extensive than initially thought. The exchange's CEO, Gracy Chen, assured users that the affected amount was covered by the Bitget Users Protection Fund.
