Bitget Hacked for $352 Million as Crypto Cybersecurity Comes Under Fire
Crypto exchange Bitget has been hit by a massive hack that saw around $352 million in unauthorized transfers from its wallets. The breach, which is one of the most substantial centralized exchange exploits of 2026, was confined to hot-wallet and warm-wallet layers, with cold wallets remaining secure.
According to Chief Executive Gracy Chen, the hackers compromised a critical backend system and used it to spoof transaction data, allowing them to steal funds from Bitget's users. The stolen assets include Ether, XRP, BNB, AVAX, USDT, and USDC.
Bitget has temporarily suspended withdrawals but assured users that their funds are safe as the loss falls within the coverage of its User Protection Fund, which currently holds over $464 million. Chen added that deposits and trading remain fully operational, but withdrawals will be restored once a security review is complete.
