Bitget Hacker Refuels with $1.23M from Binance Ahead of Withdrawal Reopening
Bitget's hacker has struck again, this time pulling $1.23 million in ether from Binance just two days before the exchange reopens bitcoin withdrawals on Monday.
The hacker, who drained Bitget of $387.5 million on September 24, sent 457.9 ETH to their wallet via a rival exchange, Binance, on September 25.
According to Lookonchain, the attacker withdrew 257.6 ETH and 545,000 USDT from Binance, then swapped the USDT for another 200.2 ETH before sending all 457.9 ETH to their wallet.
Bitget's Protection Fund is held entirely in BTC, worth about $462 million at current prices, which covers the loss as long as BTC stays above $70K.
