A recent investigation by Chainalysis has shed new light on the massive $387 million Bitget attack. The firm found that North Korea-linked threat actors were behind the attack, and some of the stolen funds were moved into Bitcoin within a day and a half.

The attack saw 23 transactions made in the first three hours, with nearly half of the funds moving through Ethereum and over 40% through XRP. The remaining funds were split between Zcash and Tron.

Researchers tracked the movement of tens of millions' worth of stolen XRP to Bitcoin through liquidity protocols that enable swaps between different blockchains.
