Bitget Hackers Stuck in Crypto Limbo
Bitget's hackers have hit a roadblock as they attempt to cash out stolen funds. The attackers are trying to move $503,000 through NEAR Intents, but the blockchain has blocked their path.
Near Intents froze the hacker-linked swaps tied to the Bitget breach, effectively freezing about 50% of the attacker's loot.
Meanwhile, THORChain has rejected Bitget CEO Gracy Chen's request to refuse service to addresses linked to the exchange's September 24 breach. The blockchain defended its permissionless design, allowing $6 million in stolen funds to pass through its infrastructure.
The Bitget hacker began moving stolen funds for the first time since the September 24 breach, swapping ETH into BTC through THORChain. The attacker has now moved about $350 million of the original $388 million stolen from the platform.
