Bitget, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges, has suffered a major hack. The incident resulted in a $351.6 million hot wallet drain, making it the largest crypto hack of 2026 so far.

The attack was flagged by Arkham Intelligence, which noted massive withdrawals from Bitget's AVAX, BNB, ETH, and stablecoin wallets. The attacker then swapped these funds to ETH.

According to Bitget CEO Gracy Chen, the incident was contained within a hot wallet, leaving cold wallet funds unaffected. The attacker compromised a critical back-end system in the wallet infrastructure, spoofed transaction history, and triggered withdrawal authorization without private key access.

Bitget has suspended withdrawals temporarily as it conducts a security review. Depositing and trading remain operational, and user balances on the exchange are secure. The exchange has flagged the receiving address and is working with law enforcement authorities and on-chain security firms to recover the stolen funds.
