Bitget Hit by Massive Hack, Suspected North Korea-Linked Thieves Steal $387.5 Million
Bitget, one of the world's largest crypto exchanges, has been hit by a massive hack. According to CEO Gracy Chen, hackers suspected of being linked to North Korea stole more than $387.5 million from the exchange's hot wallets on September 24th. This amount has increased from an initial reported loss of $351.6 million.
The attack is believed to be consistent with techniques used by DPRK-linked hacker groups, according to Chen. Customer withdrawals have been paused as a precautionary measure pending a security review. Bitget claims over 120 million users and has called in on-chain security firms to investigate the incident.
