Bitget Raises Estimated Losses to $388 Million Amid Ongoing Security Breach
Bitget has revised its estimate of assets affected by the security breach it reported earlier. The exchange initially stated that $352 million in crypto was impacted, but now says around $388 million is involved.
The updated figure includes additional assets on Zcash and TRON networks that were not accounted for in the initial report. Bitget emphasized that the revised estimate does not indicate further theft beyond what occurred during the incident window.
The exchange has paused withdrawals while it investigates and has introduced a bounty program to encourage freezing or recovery of stolen funds. According to onchain monitoring, around $387.5 million was transferred to attacker-controlled addresses, with about $35 million more than initially reported.
