Bitget Reopens Withdrawals in Stages After $387.5 Million Security Incident
Bitget has announced that it will resume withdrawals in stages starting September 28. The exchange was forced to halt withdrawals after detecting unauthorized transfers from its wallet infrastructure on September 24, which were later estimated to be around $387.5 million. This figure includes Zcash and TRON assets that were not initially accounted for.
According to Bitget's update, the exchange has fixed the vulnerabilities tied to the incident with the help of Mandiant, a cybersecurity firm owned by Google, and SlowMist, a blockchain security company. The exchange is currently undergoing further security checks before reopening its withdrawal systems.
The planned reopening schedule includes four stages: Bitcoin withdrawals will resume on September 28 at 08:00 UTC, followed by Ether (ETH) withdrawals on September 29 across Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism. USDT withdrawals are scheduled for September 30, while other tokens, fiat currency services, and peer-to-peer transactions will be enabled on October 2.
