The announcement comes as broader financial markets show signs of optimism, with key exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and equity futures trading higher in premarket activity on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. Lower oil prices and positive sentiment around tech stocks contributed to the upward momentum.
The SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (SPY) climbed 0.5%, while the Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) advanced 0.6%. US stock futures also reflected this trend, with S&P 500 Index futures up 0.5%, Dow Jones Industrial Average futures rising 0.7%, and Nasdaq futures gaining 0.7%. Meanwhile, the US international trade deficit widened to $105.57 billion in August, surpassing expectations.
In the cryptocurrency space, bitcoin rose by 0.7% in premarket trading. Among cryptocurrency ETFs, the ProShares Bitcoin Strategy ETF (BITO) increased by 1%, the Ether ETF (EETH) advanced 1.6%, and the Bitcoin & Ether Market Cap Weight ETF (BETH) remained flat. The health care and technology sectors also saw gains, with the State Street Health Care Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLV) up 0.3% and the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) gaining 0.7%.
Notable movers included Option Care Health (OPCH), which surged 21% after McKesson (MCK) and CD&R agreed to acquire the company for approximately $5.80 billion. Xanadu Quantum Technologies (XNDU) shares rose 7% following a multiyear deal with GlobalFoundries (GFS), which saw GlobalFoundries' stock increase by 1.4%. The financial sector showed modest gains, with the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) advancing 0.3% and the Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) up 0.9%.
