Bitget Resumes Bitcoin Withdrawals After $387.5M Hack

Crypto exchange Bitget has lifted its suspension on Bitcoin withdrawals after suspected North Korean hackers breached its systems and stole over $387.5 million last week.

The company added that it has addressed the security vulnerability exploited in the incident and will restore withdrawal services for all other supported assets and networks as soon as possible, including Ethereum (ETH) on September 29 at 8:00 UTC.

Bitget's CEO Gracy Chen blamed the incident on North Korean hackers, citing on-chain analysis and IP behavior patterns. The attackers breached a critical backend system within Bitget wallet infrastructure and used it to spoof transaction data, triggering the exchange's authorization process to move funds out of compromised hot/warm wallets.
