Bitget Resumes Withdrawals After $387.5 Million Breach
Bitget has announced that it will resume withdrawals for various cryptocurrencies after a $387.5 million security breach led to their suspension. The resumption of services is scheduled in phases, with Bitcoin withdrawals starting on September 28, followed by Ethereum and USDT on September 29 and 30, respectively. XRP and other assets are expected to have their withdrawals restored by October 2.
Alongside the withdrawal restart, Bitget has launched a recovery bounty program offering up to 10% in rewards for helping freeze and recover stolen funds. The security breach involved a vulnerability that was identified and remediated by Bitget's security and technical teams.
The exchange initially estimated the affected assets at $351.6 million but later increased it to around $387.5 million after further tracking revealed missing assets on Zcash and TRON. Deposits continued during the review period as they did not pose a threat to the platform's core systems.
