Bitget Resumes Withdrawals After Security Incident
Bitget has resumed Bitcoin (BTC) withdrawals on its platform after a security incident on September 24. The exchange has been working to recover from the breach, which was caused by an attacker exploiting vulnerabilities in a third-party security product used by Bitget.
The attacker obtained high-level internal credentials and sent fraudulent withdrawal commands directly to the wallet system, bypassing risk controls and triggering abnormal transfers. However, private keys were not compromised, and cold wallets remained unaffected.
Bitget has taken steps to rectify the situation, including isolating affected systems, remediating vulnerabilities, revoking and reissuing internal credentials, and restructuring access to highly sensitive systems.
The exchange has also resumed withdrawals on other networks in phases. ETH withdrawals are now open across Ethereum, BSC, Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism, while USDT withdrawals will resume on September 30 on the Ethereum, BSC, Solana, and Tron networks.
