Bitget Sees Slightly Slower Inflows After Massive Hack

Share

Bitget, a cryptocurrency exchange, has reported $231 million in deposits over a 24-hour period on September 30. This figure is roughly 6% below the exchange's August daily average of $245 million.

The significant deposit number comes just six days after Bitget suffered one of the largest centralized exchange hacks of 2026, with attackers draining nearly $390 million from the exchange's accessible wallet layers through a sophisticated forgery operation.

Following the hack, Bitget froze withdrawals and conducted an internal audit before resuming phased reopening on September 28. The single-day net outflow of $463 million that followed exceeded the total amount stolen in the hack itself.

The exchange's trading metrics also show stabilization efforts underway, with futures trading volume reaching $9.2 billion as of September 29 and open interest standing at $4.4 billion.
