Bitget Suffers $387.5 Million Security Breach
Crypto exchange Bitget has suffered one of the largest security breaches of 2026, with over $387.5 million in assets stolen from its hot and warm wallet infrastructure.
The breach occurred on September 24, and initially estimated losses stood at $351.6 million. However, further tracing identified additional assets transferred to attacker-controlled wallets, pushing the total loss to $387.5 million.
The affected assets include XRP, Ether, USDT, ZEC, USDC, USDT0, XAUt, BNB, AVAX, and TRX. Bitget's cold wallets were not compromised in the breach, and the exchange has suspended withdrawals while security checks continue with Mandiant and SlowMist assisting its investigation.
The incident is one of the largest crypto thefts reported this year, highlighting the growing scale of security breaches in the industry. Bitget has launched a recovery bounty program and cooperated with industry participants to freeze some of the stolen assets.
