Bitget Suspected of Suffering Multi-Million Dollar Hack

Share

Nearly $352 million in cryptocurrency has been moved from Bitget's hot wallets in what is believed to be a hack. The exchange's security team detected the unauthorized transfers at 18:31 UTC on September 24, 2026, and immediately activated emergency response protocols.

The incident was flagged by blockchain security firms earlier that day. According to Bitget CEO Gracy Chen, the breach only affected the hot wallet and warm wallet layers of a three-tiered wallet architecture, leaving cold wallets intact.

'At 18:31 UTC on September 24, 2026, Bitget's security systems detected unauthorized transfers from some of our hot wallets,' Chen wrote on X. 'Our security team activated emergency response protocols immediately.'

The exchange has paused withdrawals until a security review is complete but says deposits and trading remain operational.
