Bitget Suspends Withdrawals Amid Security Incident Involving $387.5 Million
Bitget, a major cryptocurrency exchange, has announced that customer withdrawals remain suspended after a security incident involving around $387.5 million in assets. The exchange claims that the situation is under control and no additional unauthorized transfers have been detected.
The transferred assets include various cryptocurrencies such as Ether (ETH), XRP, Tether (USDT), Zcash (ZEC), USD Coin (USDC), USDT0, XAUt, BNB, Avalanche (AVAX), and TRX. Bitget stated that these assets were moved to addresses controlled by attackers.
The exchange has promised to announce a plan to restore withdrawals by 11 p.m. ET on Friday (4 a.m. UTC Saturday). A recovery announcement is expected before Sept. 26 at noon in Beijing, which corresponds to 11 p.m. ET on Friday.
