Bitget Wallet Hits 40 Million Downloads
Bitget's self-custody wallet has reached a significant milestone, surpassing 40 million cumulative downloads worldwide. This figure represents total app downloads, not monthly active users or active trading accounts. The distribution growth is reflected in the addition of more trading and tokenized-asset features to the wallet.
The company emphasizes that this milestone should be understood as a measure of cumulative distribution rather than direct engagement. A single user can download the app on multiple devices or reinstall it over time, which means the 40 million figure represents a large installed base rather than current activity.
Despite the caveat, scale matters for a wallet business. A large installed base gives Bitget more room to distribute swaps, tokenized-stock products, DeFi access, and other financial services directly through the wallet interface.
The line between an exchange app and a self-custody wallet is becoming increasingly blurred as modern wallets include integrated trading, token discovery, yield products, cross-chain transfers, and access to tokenized traditional assets. The size of the download base becomes strategically important if it can be turned into repeat activity, making the wallet a direct gateway to onchain financial products.
Bitget's milestone shows the company has reached a meaningfully global audience, but the next useful metrics would be active wallets, transaction frequency, and the share of users adopting newer financial products inside the app. The 40 million cumulative downloads provide a benchmark against which future engagement can be judged, and it remains to be seen whether the wallet keeps growing but trading, swaps, and onchain activity rise with it.
