Bitget Wallet Surpasses 100 Million Users as Payments Outnumber Trading
Bitget Wallet has reached an impressive milestone of 100 million users worldwide. Notably, for the first time in its history, daily payment users now outnumber traders on the platform. This shift signifies that Nigeria and other West African regions are among the fastest-growing markets where crypto is being used, not just traded.
Nigeria's position in this shift is backed by a 2026 IMF report, which revealed that the country received about $59 billion in crypto-asset inflows between July 2023 and June 2024. The report also found that Nigeria accounts for roughly 60 percent of stablecoin inflows into sub-Saharan Africa since 2019.
According to Alvin Kan, Chief Operating Officer of Bitget Wallet, 'The next wave of users in markets like Nigeria doesn't think of this as crypto. They have a balance in dollars, they spend it, they get paid into it, and they move it across borders.' This sentiment highlights the growing adoption of stablecoins as a meaningful cross-border payments channel for the country.
Bitget Wallet's direct bank transfer feature in Nigeria, launched in November 2025, has been instrumental in addressing the gap in remittance corridors. The platform converts stablecoins such as USDT and USDC into naira and settles instantly across major partner banks.
