Bitget Warns Against Common P2P Trading Scam Tactics
Bitget's P2P trading safety guide highlights common scam tactics to help users protect themselves. One of the main security mechanisms is the escrow system, which locks a seller's crypto until the buyer confirms payment and the seller verifies receipt.
The guide warns against fake payment screenshots, where scammers edit transfer screenshots to pressure sellers into releasing crypto without actual payment. To avoid this, buyers should log in to their bank or payment app themselves to confirm receipt, and never release crypto based on a screenshot alone.
Other scam tactics include third-party payment/payment-on-behalf fraud, triangle scams, customer service impersonation/phishing scams, chargeback fraud, price manipulation/rapid buy-sell schemes, and cross-platform arbitrage money laundering. Each type has its own specific warning signs and prevention methods.
