Bitget's Protection Fund Surpasses $400M as Bitcoin Rally Boosts Reserves
Bitget's Protection Fund has surpassed $400 million in value, thanks to Bitcoin's recent price surge. The fund averaged $382 million in August, with a peak of $441.5 million on August 27. This is above the exchange's $300 million commitment, demonstrating its ability to protect users during market downturns.
The fund's performance was boosted by Bitcoin's rise from $62,773 to $80,268, representing a gain of over 25%. At the end of the month, Bitcoin traded at $78,553. The majority of the Protection Fund is held in BTC, which accounts for around 5,500 units.
Bitget CEO Gracy Chen emphasized that strong market conditions do not diminish the need for protection. She highlighted the importance of transparency and trust in user relationships, citing the exchange's onchain reserves and public reports as key factors.
