Bitget's Stolen Crypto Now Estimated at $387.5 Million as Recovery Efforts Intensify
Bitget's estimated losses from its September 24 breach have increased to $387.5 million after further on-chain tracing identified additional Zcash and TRON assets that were initially excluded from the accounting.
The exchange first detected unauthorized transfers from some hot wallets at 18:31 UTC on September 24, suspending withdrawals while keeping deposits and trading operational. Bitget's security team has since identified and patched the underlying vulnerability.
Exchanges Binance and Bybit are supporting the recovery efforts, with Bybit's CEO Ben Zhou stating that his company would assist Bitget and update its LazarusBounty platform to track the stolen funds.
