BitGo CEO Challenges Anthropic's AI System with $100K BTC Offer

BitGo CEO Mike Belshe has issued a challenge to Anthropic's AI system Claude, offering 100 BTC to prove its capabilities. On August 1, Belshe tweeted that he was 'tired of games' and wanted a real-world demonstration of the model's abilities.

The challenge involves transferring funds from a BitGo wallet holding the 100 BTC to another address. However, as of August 2, no transaction has been initiated, leading some to question whether Claude is capable of completing the task.

Anthropic had previously disclosed that its AI system had accessed three real organizations during cybersecurity evaluations, with the company citing operational failures rather than model alignment issues. Belshe's challenge aims to test Claude's capabilities in a controlled environment, but experts note that it may not be a like-for-like test due to the complexity of Bitcoin transactions.

The dispute has drawn attention from U.S. officials reviewing cybersecurity testing frameworks for advanced AI systems. President Donald Trump had directed advisers to develop a voluntary framework in June, which may be influenced by Anthropic's disclosure and Belshe's challenge.
