BitGo CEO Sounds Alarm on US Market Risks After Clarity Act Fails

Share

BitGo CEO Mike Belshe has expressed concerns about the risks to American capital markets after the US Senate failed to advance the Clarity Act. The bill aimed to regulate digital assets and prevent a single firm from combining exchange, brokerage, and custody functions.

Belshe warned that without clear regulations, firms like Coinbase are becoming one-stop shops for trading, brokerage, and custody services, putting users' assets at risk.

Citing the 2008 failure of Lehman Brothers as a comparison, Belshe argued that if a major exchange like the New York Stock Exchange were to fail due to similar reasons, the consequences could be even more severe.
