BitGo Ditches LayerZero After $292M WBTC Exploit
BitGo has announced that it will exit its partnership with LayerZero, a blockchain interoperability platform, following a significant security exploit. This decision comes after a $292M Kelpdao exploit occurred on November 30th.
The attack targeted the WBTC (Wrapped Bitcoin) token, which is now moving to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP). BitGo had previously been using LayerZero for its cross-chain transactions, but this partnership has been terminated due to security concerns.
WBTC users will need to adjust their wallets and settings accordingly as the token migrates to CCIP. This change is intended to enhance the security of WBTC transactions and protect users from potential risks.
