BitGo has migrated $7.7 billion in Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) to Chainlink's Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol (CCIP), marking a significant shift in infrastructure for the institutional custody firm.

The move aims to provide enhanced cross-chain security and standardize risk management across BitGo's operations. By integrating CCIP, BitGo can deploy unified versions of WBTC on various blockchains while maintaining technical ownership of contracts and implementing uniform verification schemes.

BitGo Chief Executive Officer Mike Belshe stated that the firm prioritizes institutional risk management, citing the need for operational reliability and compliance standards required by its clients. The adoption of CCIP protocol aligns with this goal, addressing security concerns and facilitating expansion into new networks.
