BitGo Shields Institutional Clients with Quantum-Risk Management Tools
BitGo, one of the oldest institutional-grade custody providers in crypto, has rolled out quantum-risk management tools to shield its Bitcoin wallet clients from potential attacks. The suite of four new security controls is designed to prevent a quantum computer from using public keys as an attack vector.
The central idea behind these tools is simple: if a public key has never been revealed on the blockchain, it cannot be used by a quantum computer to launch an attack. To make this principle practical at institutional scale, BitGo's new tooling requires no protocol changes or new tokens.
The update centers around four main controls: the Quantum Risk Score, which gives users real-time exposure metrics; a guided workflow for moving funds from compromised addresses to fresh ones; and a UTXO selection method that limits public-key exposure during routine sends.
According to CEO Mike Belshe, 'The safest key is one whose public key has never been revealed on-chain.'
