BitGo has made a significant upgrade to its cross-chain infrastructure by migrating $7.7 billion in Wrapped Bitcoin (WBTC) to Chainlink's CCIP interoperability protocol.

This move replaces LayerZero as the default architecture for WBTC and future digital assets issued by BitGo, with the goal of centralizing operational policy management under a single technical platform.

The adoption of Chainlink's CCIP protocol will enable BitGo to deploy unified versions of WBTC across various blockchains, maintaining technical ownership of the contracts by the issuer and offering a uniform verification scheme across supported environments.

According to BitGo Chief Executive Officer Mike Belshe, the firm's priority is institutional risk management, and Chainlink's CCIP protocol delivers the operational reliability and compliance standards required by its institutional clients as they expand asset custody into new networks.
