BitGo Snaps Up NYDIG's Trading Business for Federally Regulated Crypto Infrastructure
BitGo, a $2 billion federally chartered digital asset infrastructure company, has acquired NYDIG's institutional trading business. The deal adds execution, derivatives, structured products, and financing capabilities to BitGo's custody, settlement, and wallet infrastructure.
The purchase covers approximately 250 institutional relationships, including asset managers, hedge funds, corporates, and family offices, which have already traded size and demand hedging tools. This client base is estimated to be worth roughly $65 billion in assets on platform, with BitGo reporting second quarter revenue of $4.3 billion, up 79.6% year over year.
BitGo's CEO, Mike Belshe, framed the rationale around scope, saying institutions increasingly want one trusted partner across the full digital asset lifecycle. The company has previously built custody, settlement, wallets, and staking services, but now owns the trading and financing layer that sits on top.
