Bithumb, a South Korea-based cryptocurrency exchange, has won its first lawsuit against a user who failed to return Bitcoins mistakenly sent in an error. The court ruled that approximately 194 million South Korean won ($145,000) earned from the sale of the erroneously sent Bitcoins must be returned to the exchange.

The incident occurred in February during Bithumb's reward distribution campaign. A total of 620,000 Bitcoin was mistakenly sent to user accounts, with a market value of around $5 billion at the time. After realizing the mistake, Bithumb attempted to recover the assets but some users refused to return them.

The exchange resorted to legal action and has filed four lawsuits against users who failed to make refunds. The latest ruling is seen as a significant victory for Bithumb, which could strengthen its position in the other three ongoing lawsuits.
