BitMEX Closes Doors After Eleven-Year Run

Share

BitMEX has closed its cryptocurrency trading platform after over eleven years in operation. The exchange will officially terminate all trading services at 04:00 UTC on September 23, marking the end of a pioneering chapter in digital asset derivatives markets.

The shutdown represents the final stage of a systematic operational wind-down that progressively eliminated the platform's core trading offerings. Trading services including spot markets, conversion tools, and primary derivatives products were discontinued prior to the complete shutdown.

All remaining open positions at the time of closure will undergo forced settlement based on applicable contract pricing or index values according to the platform’s established settlement protocols. Users retain withdrawal capabilities post-closure, though monthly fees and enhanced identity verification procedures will be enforced.
