BitMEX Countdown: Critical Deadlines for Traders Amid Exchange Closure
BitMEX announced its closure on July 23, 2026, citing a strategic review of its business and the wider crypto industry. As part of the wind-down process, several deadlines are approaching for users with open positions or balances.
The first deadline is August 26 at 04:00 UTC, when risk limits take effect, allowing only position reduction or closure. Trading continues until September 23, but new positions cannot be opened after this date.
On September 2, eleven perpetual swaps will settle early, with open orders cancelled and positions closed automatically. The contracts in question include SOLUSDT, XRPUSD, BNBUSD, and others, as listed by BitMEX.
Closure Time arrives on September 23 at 04:00 UTC, when all remaining positions are force-closed, and the exchange ceases trading services. Users can still access their accounts after this date but will be charged a monthly account fee for any balance left behind.
