BitMEX Faces Lawsuit Over Alleged Theft and Insider Trading

Share

A proposed class-action lawsuit has been filed against BitMEX, a cryptocurrency derivatives exchange, alleging theft and insider trading. The suit claims that the exchange and its owners engaged in manipulative practices to profit from trades.

The complaint was filed by an unnamed plaintiff who is seeking damages and an injunction against BitMEX. According to the filing, the exchange's actions resulted in significant losses for traders.

BitMEX shut down last year after it was acquired by FTX. The company had faced regulatory scrutiny and was fined $100 million by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) in 2022.
