BitMEX Hints at Closure: Trading Services Suspended, Withdrawals Remain Open

Share

Crypto derivatives exchange BitMEX has suspended its trading services but kept withdrawals open. The platform, which was founded in 2014 by Arthur Hayes, Ben Delo, and Samuel Reed, announced the closure of trading services on Tuesday, September 22, at 07:00 TRT.

Users can still access their accounts to withdraw their existing balances, but those who leave funds behind will be subject to an account fee. The fee is calculated as a monthly charge based on the annualized rate of 1% of assets, with a minimum fee equivalent to $50 applied when the 1% amount is lower.

The shutdown of trading services does not mean that customer assets have been frozen. BitMEX urged its customers to withdraw their funds, citing the availability of withdrawals as an option for users who need access to their money.
