BitMEX Shutdown: Users Must Check Minimum Withdrawal Amounts Before September 23
BitMEX is shutting down on September 23 at 04:00 UTC and users need to act fast to withdraw their funds. The exchange has already stopped accepting new accounts since July 23, when it announced its closure in three stages. On August 26, risk limits were set so that positions can only be reduced and no longer built up.
The minimum withdrawal amount for each asset is crucial for users to check before the shutdown date. If their balance falls below this threshold, the system will reject the order regardless of whether they could pay the fee. For example, Bitcoin's lower limit is 1,000 satoshi (0.00001 BTC), worth around €0.67 at the September 11 price.
Cryptoticker.io collected data on September 11 and found that for 14 out of 62 open withdrawal routes, the network fee matches or exceeds the minimum withdrawal amount. This means that users holding these assets may not be able to withdraw their funds even if they meet the minimum threshold.
