BitMEX Shuts Down Exchange Operations After Over 11 Years
BitMEX has ceased all exchange operations as of 4:00 UTC on Wednesday, marking the end of its over 11-year run. The platform had announced plans to shut down in July, citing a strategic review of the business and broader crypto industry.
The company emphasized that user funds remain secure and encouraged customers to withdraw their remaining balances. This comes after the closure date was initially set for September 23 but has been pushed back.
Interestingly, users can still log in and withdraw their funds through the BitMEX website, despite trading and deposits being suspended. API withdrawals will be disabled on September 28, requiring users to process withdrawals through the web platform.
