BitMEX Shuts Down Exchange Services, Leaves Withdrawals Only

Share

BitMEX has officially ended its exchange services after 12 years in operation. The platform halted trading, deposits, and new position openings on September 23. Users can now only withdraw existing balances from BitMEX.

The exchange is urging users to withdraw their assets as soon as possible, with those who have completed know-your-customer verification facing an account management fee if they continue to hold funds on the platform.

BitMEX was a pioneer in the crypto derivatives market, launching perpetual futures in 2014. These products are now the most heavily traded derivative product in the crypto market, with major centralized exchanges recording $3.4 trillion in monthly derivatives trading volume last month.
