Bitmine Expands ETH Holdings by 7,391 Units Amid Ongoing Buyback Effort
Bitmine Immersion Technologies (NYSE: BMNR) has continued its aggressive cryptocurrency accumulation strategy by purchasing an additional 7,391 Ethereum over the past week. This brings the company's total holdings to 4.8% of Ethereum's circulating supply, with a significant portion staked on the blockchain network.
The acquisition is part of Bitmine's Ethereum treasury strategy, which aims to own 5% of available ETH. The company has already staked 87% of its total Ethereum holdings, representing 5,067,309 ETH valued at approximately $9.8 billion at current market prices.
The staking process involves locking up cryptocurrency on a blockchain network to help secure it and verify transactions, earning analysts' comparisons to traditional bank deposits.
The company's Chairman Tom Lee expressed his confidence in the strategy, stating that BMNR stock remains undervalued. This conviction is reflected in Bitmine's ongoing buyback effort, which has repurchased 19.1 million common shares under a $4 billion program launched at the start of July this year.
