Bitmine Leads Corporate Holders in Ethereum, Tom Lee Predicts Price Surge
Tom Lee, the founder of Fundstrat Global Advisors and a well-known crypto bull, has led his company Bitmine to become the largest corporate holder of Ethereum. As of August 10th, Bitmine held 5.81 million Ether tokens, which accounts for 4.8% of Ethereum's total supply of 120.7 million tokens.
Lee is reiterating his goal of acquiring 5% of Ethereum's supply and remains bullish on the cryptocurrency. He expects several catalysts to fuel a surge in Ethereum's value, including its growth as a developer-oriented blockchain for smart contracts and decentralized apps.
Lee was one of the few analysts who predicted Bitcoin's price increase in 2017 and told investors to buy Ether in late 2024 when it was trading at around $3,400. He expects Ethereum's value to surge to $22,000 within the next few years and $62,000-$250,000 over the long term.
While Lee has a good track record of predicting Bitcoin's price movements, investors should be cautious when following his lead on Ether. The cryptocurrency market is highly volatile, and past performance does not guarantee future gains.
