Bitmine Nears 5% ETH Goal While Strategy Expands Bitcoin Holdings
Bitmine, one of the largest crypto treasuries, is nearing its ambitious goal of holding 5% of all Ethereum. The company now owns 6,016,414 ETH, representing about 4.9% of the total supply. Bitmine has been consistently adding to its ETH holdings since launching its treasury strategy on June 30, 2025, with the latest addition of 15,112 ETH last week. The firm has also staked 5,067,309 ETH, worth $13.8 billion, generating an estimated $363 million in yearly staking revenue.
Meanwhile, Strategy, the world's largest crypto treasury, continues to accumulate Bitcoin. Between October 1 and 4, Strategy purchased 334 BTC at an average price of $85,839, bringing its total holdings to 848,000 BTC. The company also repurchased $176.3 million of STRC preferred shares between September 28 and October 4. Strategy's Bitcoin holdings are valued at approximately $63.97 billion.
The two firms employ different strategies. Bitmine focuses on staking its ETH to earn yield, while Strategy holds Bitcoin and relies on equity sales and buybacks. Bitmine Chairman Tom Lee argues that crypto is entering a bull market, citing Ethereum's performance against the S&P 500. Strategy's Q3 digital asset gain is estimated at $20.91 billion, with its Bitcoin valued at $70.82 billion as of September 30.
Liquidity is another key metric, with Bitmine averaging $827 million in daily dollar volume over five days to October 2. Lee is set to give a keynote at Token2049 in Singapore on October 7, where updates on Bitmine's 5% ETH goal may be revealed.
