Bitmine Stakes $278M in Ethereum, Reaches 5 Million ETH Mark
Bitmine Immersion Technologies has made another significant Ethereum stake, adding $278 million to its holdings. The company now holds over 5 million staked ETH, which accounts for about 4.8% of all circulating Ethereum.
This aggressive accumulation pace is part of Bitmine's 'Alchemy of 5%' strategy, aimed at controlling 5% of all ETH in circulation. According to the company's roadmap, this goal has already been achieved, with most of its ETH staked through the proprietary MAVAN platform.
The firm's chairman, Tom Lee, has emphasized Ethereum's strategic importance and Bitmine's role as a bridge between the asset and traditional financial markets. The NYSE listing of BMNR reinforces this positioning, providing institutional investors with a public equity vehicle for exposure to Ethereum staking yields without needing to touch the underlying crypto infrastructure.
The concentration of 4.8% of Ethereum's supply in one company raises centralization concerns, which may attract regulatory scrutiny. Moreover, market risk is also present, as a sharp decline in ETH price would compress the dollar value of those holdings and staking yields simultaneously.
