BitMine's Ethereum Holdings Skyrocket, Staking Revenue Tops Cash
BitMine's recent disclosure has revealed that the company now controls close to one in every twenty Ethereum (ETH) tokens in circulation, making it a significant player in the market. According to KuCoin, BitMine added 32,447 ETH over the past week, bringing its total holdings to 5,847,611 ETH as of August 23. This balance represents about 4.8% of Ethereum's total supply.
The staking figure is more striking, with BitMine reporting that it has staked 87% of its holdings, roughly 5,067,309 ETH. This projected annualized staking revenue is around $330 million, which surpasses the company's listed cash and marketable securities of $308 million.
BitMine's total crypto, cash, securities, and other investments reached $14.9 billion. The ETH position is a significant part of this balance sheet, and its influence on liquidity assumptions cannot be overstated. The staking ratio also suggests that BitMine has long-duration conviction in Ethereum's future.
Regulatory overhang still shapes large holders like BitMine. Washington's digital asset fight remains unresolved, with banks pushing against landmark crypto legislation. If staking and custody rules shift, large treasury operators will face compliance decisions about where and how to stake.
