BitMine's Ethereum Stash Hits $16 Billion as Tom Lee Predicts Year-End Crypto Surge
BitMine, a company that accumulates crypto for the long term, has continued its weekly purchases of Ethereum (ETH), buying another 27,562 tokens last week. This brings its total ETH holdings to 5.98 million, worth around $16.3 billion. However, despite this significant investment, BitMine still hasn't reached its goal of owning 5% of the total Ethereum supply.
Tom Lee, chairman of BitMine, believes that large investors are still underinvested in crypto and will increase their exposure before the year ends. He points out that the stock market values his company at less than the value of the crypto it already owns. Since June 30, 2025, BitMine has bought ETH every week and is now 98% of the way to owning 5% of all ETH in existence.
The catch is that Ethereum's supply is not fixed, with new tokens being minted constantly. This means that the 5% mark keeps moving, making it difficult for BitMine to reach its goal. Despite this, Lee remains optimistic about the future of crypto and expects institutions to pile in before the end of the year.
