Bitmine's Staking Rewards on Track to Surpass 5% of Ethereum Supply
Bitmine has made significant strides in acquiring Ethereum (ETH) tokens, buying 53,501 ETH in the week ending August 30. This purchase brought its total to 5.9 million tokens, of which over 5.06 million are already staked at a seven-day annualized yield of 2.67%. According to calculations, Bitmine's current position accounts for about 4.16% of the total ETH supply.
To reach 5% of Ethereum's supply, approximately 6.035 million tokens would be needed. Based on its reported stake and yield, Bitmine could potentially exceed this target without acquiring more ETH through staking rewards alone.
However, if the Ethereum supply continues to grow at a rate of 0.5%, or remains stable, Bitmine's share would need to increase accordingly. The company would require about 96.5% of its rewards to be retained in order to reach the 5% target over two years.
It's worth noting that Bitmine periodically converts its staking rewards into dollars and has not committed to a fixed retention percentage, leaving room for flexibility in its strategy.
