BITO Sees $51M Outflow as Bitcoin Price Remains Firm
ProShares' flagship crypto fund, BITO Bitcoin Strategy ETF, experienced significant investor redemptions on August 27, amounting to $51.3 million. This marks one of its sharpest single-day outflows this quarter, totaling about 3% of the fund's capital base.
The fund currently has around $1.66 billion in assets under management and remains a key gateway for traditional investors seeking regulated access to Bitcoin-linked performance.
Despite BITO's outflow, the underlying asset, BTC-USD, continues to trade near elevated levels at approximately $77,642.41. Bitcoin has gained about 5.74% over the past three months, and its short-term momentum remains constructive, with a 1-day technical signal flashing Buy.
The divergence between BITO's outflows and Bitcoin's positive trend suggests that some investors are rotating out of futures-based exposure after the latest rally, possibly locking in gains or shifting toward spot holdings. Others may be wary of roll costs and tracking differences that can erode returns when volatility rises, even as headline prices for the underlying asset stay firm.
